Elizabeth L. Miller

Elizabeth "Liz" L. Miller, 71, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026, at her beloved home nestled among the woods in Hillsboro, Missouri. Born on July 23, 1954, in Granite City, Illinois, Liz lived a life filled with love, joy, compassion, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature. Liz was a devoted wife to her husband, Daniel Miller, and a proud and loving mother to her son, David Barzoff and his wife, Amy; and her daughter, Sara Lakin and her husband, Alex. She was a cherished grandmother “Gege” to Hayden Barzoff, Alex Barzoff, and George Lakin, who brought immeasurable joy to her life. She is also survived by her sisters, Nancy Chosich and her husband, Mike, and Linda Shane and her husband, Paul; her brothers, Eddie Jelf and his wife, Jeanette, and Vince Fisher and his wife, Mitt; along with many beloved nieces and nephews. Liz treasured her family above all else. Her nurturing spirit, unwavering love, and gentle guidance were the foundation of her family, and nothing made her happier than the laughter, hugs, and precious moments she shared with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lola Mae (Kuhlmann) Fisher; her father, Edward Lee Jelf; her sister, Daleen Fisher; and her dear friend, Rose Nersesian. An avid gardener, Liz found peace and purpose tending to her flowers and plants, creating beauty wherever she lived. She felt most at home outdoors, whether working in her garden, listening to the birds, or simply enjoying the fresh air beneath the trees. Nature was her sanctuary, bringing her comfort, strength, and quiet happiness throughout her life. A memorial gathering will be held at Valhalla Chapel of Memories, 7600 St. Charles Rock Road, St. Louis, Missouri 63133, on July 9th from 3pm to 6pm. Liz will be entombed in the Valhalla Indoor Mausoleum in a private ceremony. Liz leaves behind a legacy of kindness, warmth, and unconditional love. She will be remembered for her generous heart, her quiet strength, and the joy she found in caring for those she loved. Though she will be deeply missed, her love will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
