LaShonda "Shonnie" Therese Brown Shonnie, a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2024, at the age of 47. Born on July 14, 1977, in St. Louis, Missouri, Shonnie lived a life defined by her love for family, generosity, and vibrant personality. Shonnie pursued her education at Saint Louis Community College Florissant Valley before transferring to the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) to study business. She went on to become the Catering Manager at UMSL, where she shared her passion for food and hospitality with countless students and colleagues. Known for her culinary expertise, Shonnie delighted everyone with her signature dishes, including her renowned "Shut Yo Stanky Mouth Chicken," mostaccioli, mac and cheese, and deviled egg potato salad. Her kitchen was always a place of comfort, love and unforgettable meals. Shonnie's heart was as boundless as her love for those around her. She was always just a phone call away, ready to help at a moment's notice. Her caring nature and willingness to be there for everyone made her a cherished figure in her community and family. Her bright spirit and deep compassion for others will forever be remembered by those fortunate enough to have known her. Shonnie was a devoted mother to her two children, Jayda (11) and Jordon (19), who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her mother, Sheila Carroll; her siblings, Chris, Krystle, Kelle (AJ) Miller, Cortlan, and Cordell; as well as aunts, Ronni (Donald) Craig, Jackie (Gregory) Termon, her Great Aunt Emma Waites, and a large extended family of cousins, relatives, and friends who will deeply miss her. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Bennie Carroll, who loved and cared for her dearly.
