Victoria Louise Maurer Hulslander

Victoria Louise Maurer Hulslander of Ballwin, Missouri, was born into eternal life on March 22, 2026. She left this earth surrounded by her beloved children. Vicki was preceded in death by her parents, Louise and Robert Maurer. She is survived by her husband, Don Hulslander; her children, Stewart Maurer (Jill), Megan Maurer, and Nancy Hulslander; her granddaughter, Amelia Maurer; and her beloved dog, Lulu. Vicki valiantly battled Stage IV metastatic breast cancer for nearly seven years. She will be remembered as a true cancer warrior, facing each day with unwavering courage. She never gave up, never complained, and continued her full-time employment at Mastercard throughout her journey. She amazed her oncology team at Siteman by bringing her laptop to every single Friday chemotherapy infusion, never missing a beat. Her oncology team at Siteman often remarked that they’ve never seen anyone like her. Early in life, Vicki showed tremendous promise as a swimmer. Following in her father’s footsteps, she excelled in swimming and ultimately became a national–level competitor. She proudly passed the family swimming legacy on to all three of her children whose competitive swimming endeavors she passionately supported. She also took tremendous pride in her granddaughter, Amelia, currently a fourth-generation Maurer competitive swimmer. Throughout Vicki’s life, she was a devout Catholic. She graduated from high school at St. Joseph’s Academy and went on to become an active, dedicated parent in the Visitation Academy community, where her youngest daughter Nancy attended from the age of two through her high school graduation. Vicki and her family developed a close bond with the Visitation Sisters, especially the late Sr. Mary Catherine Brady, V.H.M. The Hulslander family routinely attended Sunday Mass with their beloved Viz Sisters, and Vicki was also a member of St. Anselm Parish. Vicki excelled in her professional life where she served as a trailblazer for women in technology. She graduated with honors from Maryville University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. She enjoyed an illustrious career at several top Fortune 500 companies in the St. Louis area. One of her favorite roles was consulting for Disney in Orlando, where she was instrumental in the creation of the MagicBand, which is still used at Disney parks around the world today. She loved crafting, and no weekend was complete without a trip to Hobby Lobby or a craft show. In each of her projects, Vicki went above and beyond, creating intricate and elaborate details. Her favorite motto was, “More is more!”. She also loved gardening and spent hours each weekend working on her outdoor Shangri-La, despite the St. Louis heat and humidity. She especially loved preparing her home for every conceivable holiday. Vicki’s favorite holiday tradition was decorating the Christmas tree with her family and reminiscing on the memories that each and every ornament held. No description of Vicki would be complete without mentioning her profound love for all things Harry Potter. This passion spanned more than 25 years, during which time she attended book releases, movie premieres, trivia nights, themed parties, costume contests, and more. She created not just one, but two original versions of her own Professor Minerva McGonagall costume—each perfect in every detail, down to the buttons and trim on the robe. She proudly wore her costumes on a mother-daughter trip to Harry Potter World in Orlando last May. One of her favorite stories to share from the trip was when she overheard an onlooker declare, “Professor McGonagall has retired to Florida!” Vicki wore many hats throughout her life, including her most recent role as a proud Mizzou Medical School mom to her daughter Nancy. This was one of her biggest joys and greatest motivations to keep fighting. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the many special people at Siteman Cancer Center in St. Peters who walked with Vicki along her journey, making it a little easier. This includes the entire staff, but especially her oncology team: Dr. Ashley Frith, PA Katie Newlin, and RN Heather Martin. In the end, they became like family to us all. All her life, Vicki was a force of nature. Like a true Gryffindor, she faced every battle with courage, love, and unwavering strength.
