Obituary for Arthur Barnes Heuer Sr. July 6, 1931-May 9, 2015 Arthur Barnes Heuer, Sr. passed away Saturday May 9, 2015 peacefully with his family around him. The beloved husband for forty years of the late Norma (Ball) Heuer. He is survived by children Linda Godfrey (Joel), Lisa Stoll(Chris), Arthur Barnes Heuer, Jr. and (Judy) and eight grandchildren Conrad, Brady, Ashley, Katharina, Curran, Wyatt, and Christopher. Arthur Heuer was born to Dr. Scott and Maurine Barnes Heuer of St. Louis on July 6, 1931. He attended Community Elementary School, John Burroughs High School, and graduated with an undergraduate degree in geology and a master’s degree in education in 1957 from the University of Virginia. He served in the U.S. Army in Panama as an E2 Private for the 501 Airborne Infantry of Fort Jackson, South Carolina from 1954 to 1956. He worked for City Service Oil Company in New York City and was then transferred to St. Louis. He spent most of his years working for Engel Industries, St. Louis, MO as their head salesperson. He also worked for Souther and Iowa Precision. His career ended with substitute teaching in the Clayton School District where he enjoyed interacting with the youth in his community. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and hearing about their accomplishments. He loved challenging card games like cribbage. He had a great love of the outdoors and enjoyed many canoe trips and cookouts with family and friends. He is the charter member of Camp Kooch-I-Ching (1944) where he and his son and two grandsons and one granddaughter attended camp in Northern Minnesota. He made annual pilgrimages to his beloved camp each summer to relive those great times he had there. He enjoyed playing tennis with friends. He loved College sports and always kept up with the latest scores of his favorite teams. He also enjoyed his reunions at John Burroughs High School, and never missed a Christmas Pageant. The internment will be private at Valhalla Cemetery. He is also the charter member with his parents in 1943 of Ladue Chapel 9450 Clayton Road, Ladue, Missouri where a memorial service will be held in the Fellowship Hall on Monday, June 8, 2015 at 1 p.m. A reception will follow.
