Oberheide, Fred A. Departed this life April 26, 2017 at age 90. Fred was the beloved father of Lori and Brett, dear grandfather to Lindsay and Ryan, and father-in-law to Douglas. A World War II Veteran, Fred entered military service at the age of 18, and served as a front line infantry machine gunner with the Ninth Infantry Division in Germany. Included among his awards for meritorious service to his Country was the-Combat Infantry Badge, the Ninth Infantry Division Unit Citation with Oak Leaf Cluster, and the European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with 2 Bronze Battle Stars. Also a professional magician, having been elected as a member of the St Louis Ring No.1, International Brotherhood of Magicians at age 16, Fred performed magic shows for the troops in WWII , and in post-war France. Fred was devoted to the happiness and well being of his Children and Grandchildren throughout his entire successful business career in sales, advertising, and financial planning, as well as during his retirement years. His creative wit, warm smile, and sparkling personality will be missed by all • Private graveside services at Bellerive Garden’s Cemetery will be limited to family members only. Because of Fred's strong support of a child's education, memorial contributions in his memory to any worthwhile learning center for children would be greatly appreciated.
