Mrs. JoAnn Bennett

August 17, 1933 - January 4, 2015

Jo Ann Bennett, 81, entered into eternal peace with her Savior on Sunday, January 4, 2015, at the St. Johns Place Nursing Home. Jo Ann was born on August 17, 1933, a daughter of the late Ernest and Mary Ling. She attended Roosevelt High School and was chosen to attend Washington University, where she studied art. She worked in the cafeteria of Ritenour Junior High School. Jo Ann married the late Robert Bennett on February 26, 1960 and together they were members of Overland Baptist Church where she taught Youth Sunday School, painted scenes for musicals and banquets and served faithfully on the prayer chain. She later joined Riverside Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and helped with the widows and shut-in members. Jo Ann was a very kind and gentle soul; she had a loving and generous heart, and was always cheerfully giving to others and sharing her faith with a beautiful smile on her face. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 35 years, Robert Bennett in 1995; her granddaughter, Janice Wilkes in 1978 and son-in-law Ken Henke in 2011. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her; three daughters, Patti Wolfe and her husband, Richard Wolfe of Normandy, Missouri, Barbara Scarff and her husband, Edward Scarff of Lake Ozark, Missouri and Marsha Henke of St. John, Missouri; and cherished grandchildren, Wayne Wilkes, Faith LaBeaume and her husband Tim, Melissa Henke, Belinda Bell and Chaz Bell and his wife, Heather; step grandchildren, Christy Lubbers, Rebecca Hanna, Mindy Jewel and Allen Scarff and 11 great-grandchildren. At Jo Ann’s request a Praise and Worship Memorial Service will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 pm at the Valhalla Cemetery Chapel St. Louis, Missouri at 7600 St. Charles Rock Road, officiated by Rev David Johnson of Overland Baptist Church.
