Mr. John Harrison

November 7, 1930 - May 23, 2017

John Harrison, the only child of James Harrison and Louise Graham, was born in St Louis, Mo on Nov 7, 1930. He graduated from Sumner HS and attended Harris-Stowe Teacher's College for 2 years before being drafted into the D.S.Marine Corps to serve in the Korean War. He married Geraldine Mitchell upon his release and they were together 64 years. He spent time in the Reserves, and worked for 3 months at the Post Office before starting work at DMAC. He retired from there in 1985. He was also involved in Kiwanis, the YMCA, was a lifetime member of the NRA--but his true love was motorcycles. At different times, he had been a member of Road Riders for Jesus, Gateway Trikers/Trike Riders International, and Good News Riders. He once made an unsuccessful bid for a councilman's seat in Webster Groves, and was a lifetime member of the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity. He also served as an ordained deacon for many years--most recently at Divinity Baptist Church. He had an appreciation for all kinds of music, playing Pinochle, and hanging with his friends wherever they might be. At one time, he collected coins before selling his collection. He is survived by his wife, their 3 children, Brenda, John C, and James and many cousins and friends.
