Julia Jordan

Julia Crawford Jordan was born on October 17, 1934, to the late Elijah and Zeffa Crawford in Memphis Tennessee. She was the second of five children. The family moved to St. Louis, Missouri in the early ’40s. Her parents, sister Rita Mitchell, and Brother LeLan preceded her in death. She was educated in the St. Louis Public Schools System and graduated with honors from Washington Technical High School. During high school, she was appointed to work for attorney Frankie Muse Freeman. She received her bachelor's degree from Harris Stowe Teachers College and her master’s degree from Washington University. Julia taught in the St. Louis Public School System as a teacher at Vashon High School. She retired in 2004 after teaching for 38 years. Julia professed Christ at an early age. She was a devoted member of St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church where she served as a Deaconess. She participated in the Tuesday morning Bible Study and loved helping with the repast ministry. She was an avid bingo player and was a long-time member of the acting group “The Persona Players." She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter ~ Cheryl; one special daughter ~ Michelle; one special son ~ Dennis; one sister ~ Allie Brown (Edward); one brother~ Elijah (Rosa); two brothers-in-law~ Spencer and Stephan (Pamela); nine Godchildren~ Carl Jr, Kenneth, Michael, Diane, Karen, David, Carla, Mark, and Charles; Nieces~ Julie (Gregory), Eileen Patrice, Robin, Valary (Reginald); Nephews~ Michael (Cheryl), Stevon (Gleisha), Allen, Momar (Ebony), and Courtland; Vashonite children~ Alphonso, Demetrius, Kenneth and a host of others; Caregiver and friend~ Latreese; Neighbors ~ Hope and Zakiyyah, and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, grandchildren, cousins, and friends.
