Ms. Mary Thomas
September 9, 1934 - November 28, 2016
Mary was born September 9, 1934 in Isleworth, England. She moved to the United States in 1956 to St. Louis, MO with her daughter and was blessed with 3 more children, whom she loved dearly. Throughout her life, Mary devoted herself to her children and grandchildren. Her home always had an open door and there were only a few years of her life that a child or grandchild did not live with her. She was a provider. She modeled and instilled values of independence and hard work, while giving unconditional love, compassion, and acceptance. Mary embodied unmatched strength and perseverance; she endured the loss of both of her beloved sons, as well as many medical issues. Nevertheless, Mary always had a smile and a sass that created laughter all around her. Mary was employed as a waitress for many years at the Clayton Club and Bellerive Country Club. A lover of travel, many of her vacations were spent at tropical get-aways where she enjoyed the beach and water. In recent years, Mary was honored to find and meet long lost family in England, making multiple trips in her 70s to her home country to spend time with them. She is survived by two daughters: Deborah DeClue and Tracy Battee; eight grandchildren: Christopher Thomas, Jessica Thomas, Richie Battee, Maranda Thomas, Marissa Thomas, Mariah [Barry] Light, Michael Thomas, Jr., and Maridith Thomas; five great grandchildren: Peyton, William, Nicholas, Brylee, and Kendra; three brothers: Andy, Phillip and Bob Holmden. Preceded in death by her two sons: Michael and Stanley, beloved partner: Norb, parents, one brother, and two sisters.
