Roselyn “Rose” L. Young made her transition on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at St Mary’s Hospital, in Saint Louis, Missouri following a brief illness. She was born Roselyn Lucile Drake on October 16, 1932 in Bloomington, Indiana from the Union of Philip and Dorothy (Saulsbury)Drake. Rose was the 4th of 5 children. Her siblings John Drake Sr. (Deloris Drake, Harry Drake who is still alive, (his wife passed, Maggie Drake), Phyllis Drake, Phillip Drake, Barbara Drake preceded her in death. The eldest sibling Harry Drake a WWII Veteran resides in Torrance, California. Through her journey of life, Rose learned a deep respect for God the Father, his son Jesus the Savior and the power of the Holy Spirit, and “to do unto others, as you would like done unto you.” She openly lived what she preached. Rose started her Catholic scholastic beginnings at St. Francis School for girls in Normandy, Missouri and attended Sumner High class of 1951. She took college courses and moved to New York and started her Professional career with Southwestern Bell. When she returned to Saint Louis, Missouri she married Richard W. Young Sr. on May 6, 1961. Together they raised three children Roselyn Young-Walker (Arvin Walker Sr., Deceased), Rochele W. Young ABD, and Richard W. Young Jr. On October 18, 1993, Richard W. Young Sr. preceded her in death. Rose spent most of her working career in customer service and retired as a Pharmacy assistant tech at Rinderer’s Pharmacy in Saint Louis, Missouri. She was a devout Catholic and was extremely involved with her Parish, “The Most Blessed Sacrament” later in years to merge with St. Elisabeth Mother of John the Baptist. Rose was extremely talented in crafts and would make holiday and wedding decorations; her gift placed her on the path as an entrepreneur - a wedding planner. Rose being a selfless person volunteered at the Fox Theater in Saint Louis, Missouri, for over 20 years. No one could out-give Rose! She was always there to help anyone at any time. Rose leaves to cherish her loving memories: Daughters: Roselyn Walker, and Rochele W. Young ABD, Son Richard W. Young Jr. (Fiancé Kymberli McGee), Nephews Greggory Davis, “Big” John Drake Jr., Phillip Drake. Nieces: Marion (Poose) Drake- Palmer, Yvonne (Vonni) Drake. Grandsons: Aaron L. Walker Sr, Rodrick A. Render, Arvin L. Walker Jr. Granddaughters: Gabrielle (Gabbi) Robinson (Jayron Robinson), Reiko (Sweet Pea) Mayes (Anthony Mayes), Kesha Lindberg Work, Fabianne (Fay Fay) Walker, Great Grandchildren: Aaron Walker Jr., Aayden Walker, Aashton Walker, Jabori Quarles, Fabianne McGimpsey. Along with a host of cousins, and many, many dear friends.
