Ann Marialois Maddock-Hunsaker

Ann Marialois Maddock-Hunsaker, 73, of Salmon, Idaho, passed away in the morning hours of Aug. 24, 2023. Ann was born minutes after her identical twin, Louise Pamela, at Blessings Hospital in Quincy, Illinois, on June 27, 1950, to George and Lois (n. Glendinning) Litteken. Ann and her siblings were raised primarily by their father and stepmother, Della, in St. Ann, Mo. Ann attended Ritenour High School, graduating in the Class of 1968. After high school, Ann took a data entry course and then went to work for a telecommunications company that changed names many times (Western Electric, AT&T, Lucent Technologies, and Nokia). She worked as a systems analyst for the organization for more than 30 years. In 1969, Ann married Larry Maddock, and the pair went on to have two children: Jessica and Rebecca. In 1978, the pair divorced, and Ann raised the girls as a single parent. In 1987, Ann left behind everything she ever knew in St. Louis for an advancement opportunity at work and moved with her girls to the northern suburbs of Atlanta, GA. In 1997, Ann reconnected with her high school sweetheart, James Hunsaker. Ann and James were married in 2001 and moved to New London, Mo., where they settled after Ann’s retirement. The couple operated a small reselling business, J&M Sales, from 2003 to 2007. In the summer of 2021, Ann relocated to Salmon, Idaho, to be near family. Ann was hearing impaired from the age of 16 but experienced the joy of hearing again after receiving Cochlear implants in her 50s. She was a voracious reader who could often be caught with a book in her hand or the Kindle app open on her phone or tablet. Ann was also an animal lover who logged many miles for PAWS Transport, an organization that transports animals from unhealthy conditions to safety. To keep her mind sharp and stay connected with family and friends around the country, Ann played Words with Friends daily. Ann was preceded in death by her husband, James Hunsaker; parents, George and Lois (n. Glendinning) Litteken; stepmother, Della (n. Whiteside-Tooloose) Litteken; brother, Marcus Litteken; twin sister, Louise Pamela (n. Litteken) Baldwin; stepbrothers, Dale and Don Tooloose; and Stepsister, Patricia (n. Tooloose) Wade. Ann is survived by her children, Jessica Schick (Rob) and Rebecca Maddock; step-children, Ryan Hunsaker (Rev. Linda) and Stacy Florea (Jeremy); grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Dylan Schick, Angela Treadway (Garrett), Cameron Griffing, Hannah & Jazlen Hunsaker, and Autumn & Hunter Florea; great-grandchildren Silas Treadway and Cashton Griffing; sister, Patricia Price (Dale); nieces, Kimberly Baldwin, Tracy Weber (Rich), Karen Arana (Dan), and Kristen Simpson (Chris); and nephew, James Litteken. Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Sep. 9 at the Valhalla Funeral Chapel, Crematory and Cemetery, 7600 St Charles Rock Road, St Louis, MO. Interment will follow with a service at noon. A virtual memorial service for Ann's vast digital community will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to PAWS Transports.
