Claudette Dorothy Scaife

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Claudette Dorothy (Woodside) Scaife, who left this world on February 9, 2025, at the age of 56. Born on December 15, 1968, in the beautiful Bahamas, Claudette brought warmth and joy to everyone she encountered throughout her life. Claudette was a devoted mother to her children, and an adoring daughter to her mother, Sylvia Woodside. Her family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. An educator at heart, Claudette was passionate about nurturing young minds and inspiring children to reach their full potential. Her dedication to education was matched only by her love for cooking, where she delighted in bringing loved ones together around the table. Claudette found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as traveling to new places and enjoying evenings at the movies. Her zest for life was evident in everything she did, and her vibrant spirit will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her father, Aristarchus Nathaniel Wilson. Survivors include her mother, Sylvia (Porter) Woodside; son, Bryant Scaife, Jr; daughter, Kennedy Scaife-Evans; brothers: Arison Wilson, Simon Wilson and Theodore Wilson; sisters: Deborah Dorsette, Sherry Thompson, Kenrie, Nicholls, Karen Cumberbatch, and Monique Rolle. A visitation will be held on February 28, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Valhalla Funeral Chapel of Memories, 7600 St. Charles Rock Road, St. Louis, Missouri, 63133. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor Claudette’s life and legacy. Burial will immediately follow at Lake Charles Park Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri. A few words from Claudette “My name is Claudette Dorothy Scaife and I am a native of the Bahamas. I immigrated to the United States in 1992, where I made St. Louis my home. I have been a science curator in the School District of University City for the past fourteen years. Eleven of those years were served at Jackson Park Elementary. I have been a part of the Flynn Park community for the past three years. I enjoy waking up every morning because I love what I do. Working with children is so rewarding on many levels. Students who may be struggling in other academic areas can find success in science due to the hands-on activities and science experiments. They are allowed to move around and explore what science is all about. Throughout the school year they can very easily use all five of their senses.”
