John Claude Donnelly

John Claude Donnelly, a beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2024, at the age of 97. Born on January 27, 1927, to Joseph Patrick and Estelle B. (Vollmer) Donnelly. He married the late Margaret “Jean” (Glancy) Donnelly and shared 70 years together before her passing in 2019. John was a man known for his simple pleasures and unwavering dedication to his family. He proudly served his Country in the United States Army during World War II. Throughout his life, John found joy in the everyday moments, from riding his John Deere lawnmower to meticulously hosing down his driveway. He cherished family gatherings, where he could be found with a cold beer in hand, surrounded by loved ones. John took great pride in his grandchildren's sports activities, faithfully keeping meticulous stats to cheer them on with unwavering support. John's warm smile and compassionate spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who were fortunate enough to have shared in his love and kindness. He was also preceded in death by his brothers: William Joseph Donnelly and Clement Donnelly; and grandson, Corey Donnelly. Survivors include his children: Peggy (Mark) Simpson of Wildwood, Missouri, Jack (Kathy) Donnelly of Columbus, Ohio, Joe (Ann) Donnelly of Jackson, Missouri, Jim (Kathy) Donnelly of St. Louis, Missouri, and Melissa (Jerry) Poore of Wildwood, Missouri; sister, Ann Massey of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren: Tom & Christine- Wyatt; Chris & Gina- Jared & Megan; Nick & Jessica- Abby & Ally; Scot & Wendy- Maya & Tyler; Jeff & Kim- Morgan & Liam; Brice- Oscar & Everett; Anna & Michael; Valerie-Alexandria, Rachel, Robert, Drew, Peter & Mary; Cliff & Danna- Morgan: Sarah; Kim & Scott- Audrey, Owen & Harper; Katie & Nick- Lexi, Elle & Charlee, Jay & Amy- Caroline & Julia; Jessica; Ashley. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Infant Church, 627 Dennison Drive, Ballwin, Missouri. A private family graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri, with full Military Honors under the direction of Valhalla Funeral Chapel, St. Louis, Missouri.
