Margaret Nell Brickey

Margaret Nell (Woods) Brickey, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones, just two days after her 89 birthday. Margaret was born to the late William and Katie (Hardin) Woods on March 20, 1936, in Herrin, IL. She attended Herrin High School and later moved to St. Louis, MO. Margaret and Charles Ed Harris raised 3 beautiful children together until Charles’s death in 1979. Margaret married Claude Paul Brickey in October 1980 until his death in 1988. Margaret began her career as a waitress in her early years where she developed a strong work ethic and passion for customer service. Her ambition and entrepreneurial spirit led her to pursue her own business ventures. Margaret owned Bo-Mar lounge in Overland, MO and Brickey’s Landing in Florissant, MO. She worked in the Casino & Gaming Industry as a Blackjack dealer at Ameristar Casino in St. Charles, MO and later retired in 2006. Affectionately known as, “Granny Marge”, she lived a full and vibrant life, filled with love, laughter, and cherished connections. Her favorite color was purple, and she had a deep admiration for the pets she cared for over the years. Margaret also loved taking trips to Las Vegas and she enjoyed playing poker with her friends and family. She shared a special bond with her brother, Larry, and adored his wife, Norma. The three of them often traveled together. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Brickey, her father, William Woods, her mother Katie Woods-Frick, her stepfather, Oscar Frick, her brother, Larry Woods, sister-in-law, Norma Woods, her sister, Joyce (Woods) Musser, and her eldest granddaughter, Jennifer Pott. Margaret leaves to cherish her loving memories and her legacy includes son, Rickey Allan Harris, two daughters, Vickey Lynn Harris and Tina Kay Harris (Simeon) Coleman, ten grandchildren, Jennifer (Matthew) Pott, Cherell Harris, Lorenzo Harper, Brittany Coleman, Erika Coleman, Juan (Jhimae) Lewis, Javier Lewis, Katherine (Matthew) Heisler, Alexis Maclin, Donovan Prott, eight great grandchildren, Matthew Pott, Charlotte Pott, Aubrielle Lewis, Theodore Vidal, Giselle Lewis, Aaliyah Lewis, Saint Lewis, Ezra-Khalil Jones, and a host of nieces and nephews
