Nancy Carol Hengesh

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His faithful servants” Psalm 116:15. Nancy Carol Hengesh, age 89, was welcomed into her eternal home in heaven on Saturday, November 15, 2025, with her family by her side. She was born on December 30, 1935, in Gary, Indiana, to Frank and Mildred (Sierkowski) Bugay. Nancy lived a full life marked by kindness, community involvement, and a deep love for her family and friends. She married the love of her life, Richard Hengesh on August 16, 1958, in Escanaba, Michigan. They shared 51 years together before his passing. A lifelong resident of St. Louis, Missouri, Nancy was known for her warm heart and willingness to lend a hand wherever she could. Her dedication to service was evident through her involvement with various church groups, where she assisted with holiday outreach programs, bringing joy to families and children during Easter and Christmas. She attended Bonhomme Presbyterian Church. Nancy also cherished the simple pleasures of life. In earlier years, she was an active member of a bowling league. She liked walking to stay fit, she was a seamstress extraordinaire, sewing for employment while also creating both casual and formal wear for herself and family and draperies for her home. She planted flowers in her patio planters annually in remembrance of Richard’s constant dedication to landscaping and keeping colorful blooms in abundance around their large yard. Nancy shared a wonderful life with her beloved husband, Richard. Together, they enjoyed golfing and crafting beautiful memories on their travels around the country and abroad, always embracing life's adventures side by side. Nancy had a gift for hospitality, and her home was a welcoming haven where everyone who visited felt cherished and, most importantly, well-fed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hengesh; her parents; and brother, Robert Bugay. Survivors include her children: Linda (Tim) Sassenrath of Paint Rock, Alabama, Larry (Jenifer) Hengesh of Lake Oswego, Oregon, and Donna (Gregg) Scheller of Wildwood, Missouri; brothers: Don Bugay of Gladstone, Michigan and David (Joe Webb) Bugay of Merritt Island, Florida; sister, Arlene (Gene) Mercier of The Villages, Florida; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren (two expected 3/26). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Bonhomme Presbyterian Church, 14820 Conway Road, Chesterfield, MO 63017. Cremation has been accorded by Valhalla Funeral Chapel, Crematory and Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Habitat for Humanity or The Salvation Army in honor of Nancy.
